Question: Socket 11004
error
what do I do about a socket 11004 error?
I have a socket 11004 error. My HP Laptop won't connect with
the internet through my home networked Linksys
router and Time Warner Modem...
despite the fact that everything checks out: the network,
the router, the modem.
I am certainly an amateur. The kind of guy who builds his
own computer, installs stuff, wants to solve it
himself with help, and screws things up just often enough
to keep himself busy. Forgive me.
How to resolve this? I thought about downloading XP fixes
and tried it by downloading service pack one (my laptop version
of XP is fairly early XP version) to my tower computer which
does connect to the internet. Did so, then when
I tried to install this file on the laptop, Bill Gates raised
his ugly head and said something like "this is not the
version
of XP we expected to find." End of installation, though
who knows if this would solve the problem.
Basically, what do I do about a socket 11004 error?

Answer:
Socket error (#11004): Valid name, no data of requested type.
Analyse & Solutions: The requested name is valid and
was found in the database, but it does not have the correct
associated data being resolved for. The usual example for
this is a host name-to-address >translation attempt (using
gethostbyname or WSAAsyncGetHostByName) which uses the DNS
(Domain Name Server). An MX record is returned but no A record?
